Bundarra House

Additions & Alterations

The restoration and extension of a 1915-built heritage property was a labour of love, requiring immense dedication to bring the client and architects’ vision to life. The original house, constructed between 1915 and 1950, is filled with beautiful details and finishes that speak to its rich history. Tribe Studio, tasked with the redesign, preserved the home’s original organizational logic, carefully incorporating the bedrooms under the tiled gable roof while situating the services within the sandstone basement.

Over the course of two years, the build exhibited unparalleled craftsmanship, combining both significant structural elements and exquisite finishes. This careful work, alongside strict heritage requirements, has earned the project multiple award shortlists, with final decisions still pending. Despite the challenges posed by access restrictions, communication with neighbours played a key role in managing the complexities of the build. The result is a seamless integration of modern functionality with the home’s historic charm, a testament to the skill of the tradesmen involved.
